Is the Word of God preached in the place where we gather? (Part III)
2 Corinthians 2:14-17
"We thank God for the power Christ has given us. He leads us and makes us win in everything. He speaks through us wherever we go. The Good News is like a sweet smell to those who hear it. We are a sweet smell of Christ that reaches up to God. It reaches out to those who are being saved from the punishment of sin and to those who are still lost in sin. It is the smell of death to those who are lost in sin. It is the smell of life to those who are being saved from the punishment of sin. Who is able for such a work? We are not like others. They preach God’s Word to make money. We are men of truth and have been sent by God. We speak God’s Word with Christ’s power. All the time God sees us."

11. Are the consequences of sin being taught and that even salvation can be lost? "There are those who have known the truth. They have received the gift from heaven. They have shared the Holy Spirit. They know how good the Word of God is. They know of the powers of the world to come. But if they turn away, they cannot be sorry for their sins and turn from them again. It is because they are nailing the Son of God on a cross again. They are holding Him up in shame in front of all people." (Hebrews 6: 4-6), "My Christian friends, you have obeyed me when I was with you. You have obeyed even more when I have been away. You must keep on working to show you have been saved from the punishment of sin. Be afraid that you may not please God." (Philippians 2:12), "But the one who stays true to the end will be saved." (Matthew 24:13)
12. Is the Word of God taught with respect? "We know the Law is good when it is used the way God meant it to be used. We must remember the Law is not for the person who is right with God. It is for those who do not obey anybody or anything. It is for the sinners who hate God and speak against Him. It is for those who kill their fathers and mothers and for those who kill other people. It is for those who do sex sins and for people who do sex sins with their own sex. It is for people who steal other people and for those who lie and for those who promise not to lie, but do. It is for everything that is against right teaching. The great Good News of our honored God is right teaching. God has trusted me to preach this Good News." (1 Timothy 1: 8-11). "Watch yourself how you act and what you teach. Stay true to what is right. If you do, you and those who hear you will be saved from the punishment of sin." (1 Timothy 4:16)
We must be clear that the Word of God is clear in warning us that we must be alert of these things ...
1. "The Holy Spirit tells us in plain words that in the last days some people will turn away from the faith. They will listen to what is said about spirits and follow the teaching about demons. Those who teach this tell it as the truth when they know it is a lie. They do it so much that their own hearts no longer say it is wrong. They will say, “Do not get married. Do not eat some kinds of food.” But God gave these things to Christians who know the truth. We are to thank God for them." (1 Timothy 4: 1- 3)
2. "You who pretend to be someone you are not, Isaiah told about you. He said, ’These people show respect to Me with their mouth, but their heart is far from Me. Their worship of Me is worth nothing. They teach what men have made up.’”" (Matthew 15: 7-9)
3. "“It is bad for you, teachers of the Law and proud religious law-keepers, you who pretend to be someone you are not! You are like graves that have been made white and look beautiful on the outside. But inside you are full of the bones of dead men and of every sinful thing. As men look at you, you seem to be good and right but inside you are full of sin. You pretend to be someone you are not." (Matthew 23: 27-28).
4. "This is true of them. Speak sharp words to them because it is true. Lead them in the right way so they will have strong faith. Do not let them listen to Jewish stories made up by men. Do not let them listen to man-made rules which lead them away from the truth. All things are pure to the man with a pure heart. But to sinful people nothing is pure. Both their minds and their hearts are bad. They say they know God, but by the way they act, they show that they do not. They are sinful people. They will not obey and are of no use for any good work." (Titus 1: 13-16).
5. "“And why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but do not do what I say?" (Luke 6:46)
We would be amazed at the numbers of how many places today do the opposite of what the Word of God stipulates ...
However, is the Word of God preached in the place where we gather? We value this! but, what are we doing there?
God bless you and have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
