Are we masochists? (Part II)
2 Peter 2: 21-22
"After knowing the holy Law that was given to them, they turned from it. It would have been better for them if they had not known how to be right with God. They are like the wise saying, “A dog turns back to what he has thrown up.” And, “A pig that has been washed goes back to roll in the mud.”"

All of the above to avoid the confusion that it is God who submits us to masochism.
As God's processes produce in us faith, courage, strength, focus, growth "We know that God makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are chosen to be a part of His plan." (Romans 8:28), masochism in counterpart gradually leads to pain, to underestimation, to deterioration and death ... A whole plan ... "The robber comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy ..." ( John 10: 10a).
Are we being masochists? Let's make a checklist through the Word of God and see how many are answered in "Yes":
1. Have we repeated the same process over and over again and we do not learn ?: "It is not good for a person to be without much learning, and he who hurries with his feet rushes into sin. The foolish acts of man make his way bad, and his heart is angry toward the Lord." (Proverbs 19: 2-3)
2. Do we want to receive only a little appreciation regardless of the consequences? "Look at the birds in the sky. They do not plant seeds. They do not gather grain. They do not put grain into a building to keep. Yet your Father in heaven feeds them! Are you not more important than the birds?" (Matthew 6:26)
3. Do emotions often leads our life? "But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at the way he looks on the outside or how tall he is, because I have not chosen him. For the Lord does not look at the things man looks at. A man looks at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.”" (1 Samuel 16: 7)
4. Do we act and then think?: "“If one of you wanted to build a large building, you would sit down first and think of how much money it would take to build it. You would see if you had enough money to finish it, or when the base of the building is finished, you might see that you do not have enough money to finish it. Then all who would see it would make fun of you. They would say, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ “What if a king is going to war with another king? Will he not sit down first and decide if he is able to go with 10,000 men against the other king who is coming with 20,000 men? Or, he will send a soldier to the other king while he is still a long way off. He will ask what can be done to have peace." (Luke 14: 28-32)
5. Do we feel good about ourselves? Are we conformists? "I tell you this in the name of the Lord: You must not live any longer like the people of the world who do not know God. Their thoughts are foolish. Their minds are in darkness. They are strangers to the life of God. This is because they have closed their minds to Him and have turned their hearts away from Him. They do not care anymore about what is right or wrong. They have turned themselves over to the sinful ways of the world and are always wanting to do every kind of sinful act they can think of. But you did not learn anything like this from Christ. If you have heard of Him and have learned from Him, put away the old person you used to be. Have nothing to do with your old sinful life. It was sinful because of being fooled into following bad desires." (Ephesians 4: 17-22)
6. Do we show others as a good person who is hurting us ?: "O Lord, You have heard the prayers of those who have no pride. You will give strength to their heart, and You will listen to them. In this way, You will do the right thing for those without a father and those who suffer, so that man who is of the earth will no longer make them afraid." (Psalm 10: 17-18), "The Lord your God is with you, a Powerful One Who wins the battle. He will have much joy over you. With His love He will give you new life. He will have joy over you with loud singing." (Zephaniah 3:17)
