Who was Josiah? (Part I)

1 Kings 13:1-3
“A man of God came from Judah to Bethel by the word of the Lord. Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn special perfume. 2 The man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord, and said, “O altar, altar, this is what the Lord says. ‘See, a son will be born to the family of David. His name will be Josiah. On you he will burn the religious leaders of the high places who burn special perfume on you. Human bones will be burned on you.’” 3 He gave a special thing to be seen the same day. He said, “This is what the Lord says will be seen. ‘See, the altar will be broken in two. And the ashes on it will be poured out.’””

Josiah? Who was Josiah?
Before going deeper into the life of Josiah, we will know a little of his roots ...
The Word of God teaches us that his grandfather Manasseh began to reign at age 12 and reigned in Jerusalem for 55 years doing so many bad things, among them: causing several of his children to pass through fire ... Unfortunately all his decisions had serious repercussions on Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 33: 1-22; 2 Kings 21: 1-18). After the reign of Manasseh was succeeded by his son Amon at the age of 22, who was already married to Jedida and had a son. Incredible as it may seem the reign of King Amon lasted only two years of the evil he did because his own servants conspired against him and killed him in his own house. How much evil will have done in order to his servants conspire against him? (2 Chronicles 33: 21-24; 2 Kings 21: 19-23) ... The fact is that his son, Josiah, who was only 8 years old, was put to reign in his place. (2 Chronicles 33:25, 2 Kings 21:24) ...
A child who probably saw the wickedness of his grandfather and his father, a child who had to see when his father was torn from him because of a conspiracy, a child who was taken away from childhood because he could not be a usual child but should mature much faster than normal to be able to reign ... Unfair? Why did this happen to a child? ... On the other hand ... What could we expect from this child? What would your laws be? Could we say that given what he saw of his grandfather and his father would be a bad king?

In God everything always has a purpose, God always has a plan!

To be continued ...

God bless you and have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
