Who was Josiah? (Part I)

1 Kings 13:1-3
“A man of God came from Judah to Bethel by the word of the Lord. Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn special perfume. 2 The man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord, and said, “O altar, altar, this is what the Lord says. ‘See, a son will be born to the family of David. His name will be Josiah. On you he will burn the religious leaders of the high places who burn special perfume on you. Human bones will be burned on you.’” 3 He gave a special thing to be seen the same day. He said, “This is what the Lord says will be seen. ‘See, the altar will be broken in two. And the ashes on it will be poured out.’””

Who was Josiah? Let's see:
1. His reign in Jerusalem lasted 31 years and decided to do good things! (2 Chronicles 34: 1-2, 2 Kings 22: 1-2)
2. From the age of 8 he understood that the key to his success as king was to melt before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords ... He must seek God's guidance! (2 Chronicles 34: 3)
3. He began the arduous task of removing, take off, destroying to the point of powdering all that was evil in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did from his 8 years until the age of 18 ... 10 years !! (2 Chronicles 34: 3-8)
4. And it came to pass, when he had finished cleaning Judah, that he commanded to repair and to clean the house of the Lord his God How? Please read 2 Kings 23: 4-20 .... and in passing they found the book of the Law. (2 Chronicles 34: 8-28)
5. And he commanded all the people of Judah and Jerusalem to gather in the house of God, that they might hear the words of the book of the law. After this he first committed himself to live according to the ordinances of the book of the law, After his covenant he gave as an ordinance that the people also did it so and so it was during the time of his reign! (2 Chronicles 34: 29-33)
6. "You must remember this special time when you go to the land that the Lord has promised to give you. When your children ask you, ‘What does this special time mean to you?’ you will say, ‘It is a Passover gift to the Lord. Because He passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt. He killed the Egyptians but saved our homes.’” And the people bowed to the ground and worshiped." (Exodus 12: 25-27) For more than 60 years this ritual had ceased to be practiced and King Josiah did it again! (2 Chronicles 35: 1-19; 2 Kings 23: 21-23)
7. And if this were but a little ... "Josiah put away the people who spoke with spirits, and people who used their secret ways. He put away the house gods and the false gods and all the sinful things that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this to obey the words of the Law which were written in the book that was found in the Lord’s house by Hilkiah the religious leader." (2 Kings 23:24)

For this and many other things we found in the Word of God that "Before Josiah there was no king like him who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the Law of Moses. And no one like him came after him." (2 Kings 23:25)

Most of us complain about the circumstances of life, why things happen to us and we often think that everything is lost, but we must know that God always has a plan for us in the midst of adversity and difficulty!
Will there be anything from King Josiah that we can apply in our lives?

God bless you and have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
