Ungrateful and irresponsible toward God? (Part I)

2 Chronicles 24: 17-24
"But after the death of Jehoiada, the leaders of Judah came and bowed down in front of the king. And the king listened to them. They left the house of the Lord the God of their fathers, and worshiped the false gods of Asherah and the objects made to look like them. So anger came upon Judah and Jerusalem because of their sin. Yet God sent men who speak for God to bring them back to the Lord. These men of God spoke against them, but they would not listen. Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the religious leader. He stood where he could be seen by the people and said to them, “God says, ‘Why do you sin against the Laws of the Lord, and bring trouble on yourselves? Because you have left the Lord, He has left you.’” So they made plans against him. At the king’s word, they killed Zechariah with stones in the open space of the Lord’s house. So Joash the king did not remember the kindness his father Jehoiada had shown him, but he killed his son. And when Zechariah was dying, he said, “May the Lord see and punish!” At the end of the year the army of the Syrians came up against Joash. They came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the leaders of the people. And they sent all they had taken in battle to the king of Damascus. The army of the Syrians came with a small number of men. But the Lord let them win against a very large army. Because the people of Judah and Jerusalem had turned away from the Lord, the God of their fathers. So the Syrians were used to punish Joash."

The Word of God teaches us that "Happy is the man who always fears the Lord, but he who makes his heart hard will fall into trouble." (Proverbs 28:14). Harden the heart? What do you mean? The Psalmist expresses, "Praise the Lord, O my soul. And all that is within me, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul. And forget none of His acts of kindness." (Psalm 103: 1-2) This reflects that our heart is  hard when we forget who is God, when we do not recognize what He has done and what He does, for example, "“For My people have done two sinful things: They have turned away from Me, the well of living waters. And they have cut out of the rock wells for water for themselves. They are broken wells that cannot hold water." (Jeremiah 2:13). Are we looking for alternative solutions? When we look for a source that is not God, we only see a vain illusion, we lose the north, we lose the focus and little by little we come across aspects that drag us to irresponsibility and ungratefulness. For example? Let's analyze the following 4 points ...

1. We do not attend church: "So then, faith comes to us by hearing the Good News. And the Good News comes by someone preaching it." (Romans 10:17) so "A man cannot please God unless he has faith. Anyone who comes to God must believe that He is. That one must also know that God gives what is promised to the one who keeps on looking for Him." (Hebrews 11: 6). That is, if we do not attend the church we do not hear the Word of God, therefore we do not acquire faith and if we do not acquire faith, we do not please God ... Then how could it be possible to be grateful to God, to fulfill his precepts and statutes? ... Have we stopped attending church? If so, it may be time to return (Hebrews 10:25).

To be continued...

God bless you and have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
