Do we admire and respect God? (Part II)
Deuteronomy 10: 12-13
"“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you? He wants you to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him. He wants you to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul. He wants you to keep all the Laws of the Lord which I am telling you today for your good."
3. Because He does not lie: "God is not a man, that He should lie. He is not a son of man, that He should be sorry for what He has said. Has He said, and will He not do it? Has He spoken, and will He not keep His Word?" (Numbers 23:19), "When men make a promise, they use a name greater than themselves. They do this to make sure they will do what they promise. In this way, no one argues about it. And so God made a promise. He wanted to show Abraham that He would never change His mind. So He made the promise in His own name. God gave these two things that cannot be changed and God cannot lie. We who have turned to Him can have great comfort knowing that He will do what He has promised."(Hebrews 6: 16-18) How many times have we lied? How many times have they lied to us? If our admiration deserves someone who does not lie, what can we then express of God?
4. For He is truthful: "“He Who comes from above is above all. He who comes from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. He Who comes from heaven is above all. He tells of what He has seen and heard. But no one believes what He says. Whoever receives His words proves that God is true." (John 3: 31-33), "We know God’s Son has come. He has given us the understanding to know Him Who is the true God. We are joined together with the true God through His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the life that lasts forever." (1 John 5:20), "Make them holy for Yourself by the truth. Your Word is truth." (John 17:17) Will a man deserve our respect and admiration if he is truthful and his word is true? And God?
5. For He is worthy: "We give honor and thanks to the King Who lives forever. He is the One Who never dies and Who is never seen. He is the One Who knows all things. He is the only God. Let it be so." (1 Timothy 1:17), "“Our Lord and our God, it is right for You to have the shining-greatness and the honor and the power. You made all things. They were made and have life because You wanted it that way.”" (Revelation 4:11) Do we recognize that God is worthy?
6. For He is wise: "The Lord built the earth by wisdom. He built the heavens by understanding. By what He knows, the seas were broken up and water falls from the sky." (Proverbs 3: 19-20), "Great is our Lord, and great in power. His understanding has no end." (Psalm 147: 5), "“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and My ways are not your ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55: 8-9) If we admire our teachers for their knowledge, how much more admiration We owe the Lord since his understanding is infinite?
7. For He is holy: "Get your minds ready for good use. Keep awake. Set your hope now and forever on the loving-favor to be given you when Jesus Christ comes again. Be like children who obey. Do not desire to sin like you used to when you did not know any better. Be holy in every part of your life. Be like the Holy One Who chose you. The Holy Writings say, “You must be holy, for I am holy.”" (1 Peter 1: 13-16), "There is no one holy like the Lord. For sure, there is no one other than You. There is no rock like our God." (1 Samuel 2: 2), "You must be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5: 48) Is it something that we have to learn from God?
