Who said you can not? (Part I)
2 Corinthians 13: 5
"Put yourselves through a test. See if you belong to Christ. Then you will know you belong to Christ, unless you do not pass the test."
"Put yourselves through a test. See if you belong to Christ. Then you will know you belong to Christ, unless you do not pass the test."
More and more people are heard saying "I do not believe it possible", "There is no reason to try", "I have no chance", "Everything is lost" ... in the end.. "I can't".
Why did we choose this state of defeat? And worse yet, why do we feel defeated without having begun to try?
The Bible says, "He who watches over his mouth keeps his life. He who opens his lips wide will be destroyed." (Proverbs 13: 3)
We can blame society, tradition, culture, friends, family, ancestors, parents, government, laws ... in short so many things we could say, but the reality is "He who watches over his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles."(Proverbs 21:23), we have bound ourselves with defeat just speaking troubles!
What do we do to be free from that state of defeat?
"He said to the Jews who believed, “If you keep and obey My Word, then you are My followers for sure. You will know the truth and the truth will make you free.”" 3 aspects ...
1. Knowing and remaining in the Word of God !: To stop being a slave to defeat we definitely need to fill ourselves with reasons to move forward, and the Word of God has the reasons we need and much more than we imagine! Jesus himself said, "It is written, "But Jesus said, “It is written, ‘Man is not to live on bread only. Man is to live by every word that God speaks.’”" (Matthew 4: 4) ... For those who lack focus, the Bible is the medicine! Through it we learn that we have been set free from all slavery that tormented us. "Christ made us free. Stay that way. Do not get chained all over again in the Law and its kind of religious worship." (Galatians 5: 1). And that it is impossible for us to have any barriers if we are in Christ because "I can do all things because Christ gives me the strength." (Philippians 4:13)
2. Learning and believing the Word of God! To overcome the state of defeat, it is vital that the promises of the Word of God are learned and trusted! "He said to them, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then He stood up. He spoke sharp words to the wind and the waves. Then the wind stopped blowing. Then men were surprised and wondered about it. They said, “What kind of a man is He? Even the winds and the waves obey Him.”" (Matthew 8: 26-27) Learning and believing the Word of God will keep a clear and unambiguous approach because we are confident that our Lord Jesus is in the boat!
3. Following Jesus !: "We have a great Religious Leader Who has made the way for man to go to God. He is Jesus, the Son of God, Who has gone to heaven to be with God. Let us keep our trust in Jesus Christ. Our Religious Leader understands how weak we are. Christ was tempted in every way we are tempted, but He did not sin. Let us go with complete trust to the throne of God. We will receive His loving-kindness and have His loving-favor to help us whenever we need it." (Hebrews 4: 14-16), "Jesus said, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one can go to the Father except by Me." (John 14: 6), "I have been put up on the cross to die with Christ. I no longer live. Christ lives in me. The life I now live in this body, I live by putting my trust in the Son of God. He was the One Who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20) How would we feel if someone came to tell us that He want to help us out of defeat, that He knows the right way and that we do not worry because He would take the helm for us? It's not a joke ... following Jesus we understand that all the burden and weariness that has left us defeat, Jesus longs to take it away "“Come to Me, all of you who work and have heavy loads. I will give you rest. Follow My teachings and learn from Me. I am gentle and do not have pride. You will have rest for your souls. For My way of carrying a load is easy and My load is not heavy.”"(Matthew 11: 28-30)
