¿What do we achieve by praying? (Part I)

James 5:16b
'The prayer from the heart of a man right with God has much power.'

Before going into detail ... ¿Do we know what prayer is? If we go to a dictionary this could tells us that it is the supplication and help that we ask of a deity, however, when we reading the Bible we find that the sentence is not based only in asking, but in establishing a communication with God ... It goes much further, it is an intimate dialogue.
So let us see through the Word of God that we achieve by praying:
1. We thank God: "Never stop praying. In everything give thanks. This is what God wants you to do because of Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18)
2. We achieve a divine intervention: "So Peter was held in prison. But the church kept praying to God for him. The night before Herod was to bring him out for his trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers. He was tied with two chains. Soldiers stood by the door and watched the prison. All at once an angel of the Lord was seen standing beside him. A light shone in the building. The angel hit Peter on the side and said, “Get up!” Then the chains fell off his hands." (Acts 12:5-7)
3. We achieve that God to give us a clear and concise direction: "While they were worshiping the Lord and eating no food so they could pray better, the Holy Spirit said, “Let Barnabas and Saul be given to Me for the work I have called them to.” These preachers and teachers went without food during that time and prayed. Then they laid their hands on Barnabas and Saul and sent them away." (Acts 13:2-3)
4. We achieve that God to comfort us: "Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone happy? He should sing songs of thanks to God." (James 5:13)
