¿Are we looking and criticising the mistakes of others? (Part I)

Mathew 7:3-5
'Why do you look at the small piece of wood in your brother’s eye, and do not see the big piece of wood in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take that small piece of wood out of your eye,’ when there is a big piece of wood in your own eye? You who pretend to be someone you are not, first take the big piece of wood out of your own eye. Then you can see better to take the small piece of wood out of your brother’s eye.'

It is so important to measure that it comes out of our mouths "... The mouth speaks of what the heart is full of." (Luke 6:45b), so if we give it free rein to say everything in our heart we can do a lot more harm than we could imagine "But whatever comes from the mouth has come out of the heart. These things make the man unclean inside. For out of the heart come bad thoughts, killing other people, sex sins of a married person, sex sins of a person not married, stealing, lying, speaking against God. These are the things that make the man unclean inside... " (Matthew 15:18-20a), therefore "Christian brothers, do not talk against anyone or speak bad things about each other. If a person says bad things about his brother, he is speaking against him. And he will be speaking against God’s Law. If you say the Law is wrong, and do not obey it, you are saying you are better than the Law. Only God can say what is right or wrong. He made the Law. He can save or put to death. How can we say if our brother is right or wrong?" (James 4: 11-12)

¿Do we have any problem with looking at and criticising others' mistakes? Let us see what the Bible suggests:

1. Let us remember that we too are human, so we are also mistaken: "If there is someone whose faith is weak, be kind and receive him. Do not argue about what he thinks. One man believes he may eat everything. Another man with weak faith eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything should not think he is better than the one who eats only vegetables. The man who eats only vegetables should not say the other man is wrong, because God has received him. Who are you to tell another person’s servant if he is right or wrong? It is to his owner that he does good or bad. The Lord is able to help him." (Romans 14:1-4)
2. Before criticism, consider the situation, let us first think!: "There is one whose foolish words cut like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Lips that tell the truth will last forever, but a lying tongue lasts only for a little while." (Proverbs 12:18-19)

To be continued...

God bless you and have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
