Obedience to our authorities

Acts 4:13-20
'They were surprised and wondered how easy it was for Peter and John to speak. They could tell they were men who had not gone to school. But they knew they had been with Jesus. They were not able to argue about what Peter and John had said because the man who had been healed was standing with them. The religious leaders told Peter and John to leave the court so the leaders could talk together. They said, “What should we do with these men? Everyone living in Jerusalem knows a powerful work has been done by them. We cannot say that it did not happen. Let us tell them with strong words that they must not speak again to anyone in this name. This will keep the news from going out among the people.” Then they called them in and told them they must not speak or teach anymore in the name of Jesus. Peter and John said, “If it is right to listen to you more than to God, you decide about that. For we must tell what we have seen and heard.”'

We will always be surrounded by authorities ... "Every person must obey the leaders of the land. There is no power given but from God, and all leaders are allowed by God. The person who does not obey the leaders of the land is working against what God has done. Anyone who does that will be punished." (Romans 13: 1-2) ... Whether we want or not, there will be the president, the congress, the senate, governors, mayors, judges, police officers, teachers, pastors and even leaders in the church we attend, and over all these ... The Lord !. But ... And this verse? We do not read wrong, Peter and John refused to obey what a great authority of that time was ordering! Simply because it did not go according to what the Lord had stipulated to them. "He said to them, “You are to go to all the world and preach the Good News to every person." (Mark 16:15) ... That's why they said "For we must tell what we have seen and heard.”" (Acts 4:20)
While it is true that we must submit ourselves to the authorities, we first submit ourselves to the authority of the Lord (Philippians 2:9-11), therefore we must review whether what has been stipulated is according to the Bible, because our manual of ethics, morals, discipline and conduct is the Bible on any human imposition "All the Holy Writings are God-given and are made alive by Him. Man is helped when he is taught God’s Word. It shows what is wrong. It changes the way of a man’s life. It shows him how to be right with God. It gives the man who belongs to God everything he needs to work well for Him."(2 Timothy 3:16-17). Unfortunately, many do not want to have a relationship with God, they do not like to read the Bible, they do not want to meditate on it, they do not scrutinize it ... and sooner or later someone comes who wants to impose us their authority, and these with lacking of knowledge and discernment end up following them (Matthew 15:14). So ¿How would it be possible to overturn any argument that arises against the knowledge of Christ if we do not meditate on the Bible? (1 Corinthians 10:5).
So ... ¿Do we obey our authorities, yes or no?
1. What they command IS ACCORDING to the Bible?: We must obey "Those who do right do not have to be afraid of the leaders. Those who do wrong are afraid of them. Do you want to be free from fear of them? Then do what is right. You will be respected instead. Leaders are God’s servants to help you. If you do wrong, you should be afraid. They have the power to punish you. They work for God. They do what God wants done to those who do wrong."(Romans 13:3-4)
2. What do they command IS NOT ACCORDING to the Bible?: Let's not participate of it, but reprimand those works "At one time you lived in darkness. Now you are living in the light that comes from the Lord. Live as children who have the light of the Lord in them. This light gives us truth. It makes us right with God and makes us good. Learn how to please the Lord."(Ephesians 5: 8-10) "So be careful how you live. Live as men who are wise and not foolish. Make the best use of your time. These are sinful days. Do not be foolish. Understand what the Lord wants you to do."(Ephesians 5:15-17).

"Test everything and do not let good things get away from you. Keep away from everything that even looks like sin. May the God of peace set you apart for Himself. May every part of you be set apart for God. May your spirit and your soul and your body be kept complete. May you be without blame when our Lord Jesus Christ comes again."(1 Thessalonians 5:21-23).

“If it is right to listen to you more than to God”...

God bless you and have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
