Asking forgiveness to the Lord

2 Chronicles 7:14
"if My people who are called by My name put away their pride and pray, and look for My face, and turn from their sinful ways, then I will hear from heaven. I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

It is clear that everyone who practices sin is the son of the devil (1 John 3:8), but not is in whom we will focus now, we will focus only when you and I sin because of weakness or simply ignorance.
"If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar. And His Word is not in our hearts." (1 John 1:10, James 3:2).
Focusing on when we sin because of weakness or ignorance, there are 3 types of people:
1. The person who is aware that he has sinned and wants to justify his error.
2. The person who is aware that he has sinned and uses this as a pretext to turn away from God.
3. The person who is aware that he has sinned, repents, confesses his sin, and obtains mercy.

The Bible teaches us that "It will not go well for the man who hides his sins, but he who tells his sins and turns from them will be given loving-pity."(Proverbs 28:13). One of the strategies of the devil is to make us believe that the Lord will not forgive us or worse, that what we did is not sin and we begin to justify ourselves. It is sad to see that many with great ministries end up withdrawing, hiding from God to add sin to sin. "“It is bad for the children who will not obey!” says the Lord, “They act on a plan that is not Mine, and make an agreement that is not of My Spirit, and so add sin to sin." (Isaiah 30:1). Finally, the devil fulfills in these cases his mission that is to steal our relationship with God, then kill us and destroy us!
If we are going through such a situation, through the life of David, the Bible will teach us to do:
1. David acknowledged his sin: "When I kept quiet about my sin, my bones wasted away from crying all day long." (Psalm 32:3) ... David knew that hiding or justifying his sin would not do him anything but to cause hurt in his bones!
2. David knew that God is great in mercy: "Who is a God like You, Who forgives sin and the wrong-doing of Your chosen people who are left? He does not stay angry forever because He is happy to show loving-kindness. He will again have loving-pity on us. He will crush our sins under foot. Yes, You will throw all our sins into the deep sea." (Micah 7:18-19), "For You are good and ready to forgive, O Lord. You are rich in loving-kindness to all who call to You." (Psalm 86:5)... David knew that God is great in mercy!
3. David understood that only God cleanses: "I have sinned against You, and You only. I have done what is sinful in Your eyes. You are always right when You speak, and fair when You judge." (Psalm 51:4) and knew that He was the only one who could cleanse it. "Take away my sin, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow." (Psalm 51:7)
4. David confessed his sin to God and was forgiven: "I told my sin to You. I did not hide my wrong-doing. I said, “I will tell my sins to the Lord.” And You forgave the guilt of my sin." (Psalm 32:5)
It would be good for us to acknowledge our sins, to know that God is great in mercy, to understand that He wants clean us and we just must confess our sin to be forgiven us!
¿Do we approach to Him? "Let us go with complete trust to the throne of God. We will receive His loving-kindness and have His loving-favor to help us whenever we need it." (Hebrews 4:16)
This is a good beginning, "Look through me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. See if there is any sinful way in me and lead me in the way that lasts forever." (Psalm 139:23-24)

God bless you and have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
