That was my last lifeguard !!
Salmos 73:25-28
“Whom have I in heaven but You? I want nothing more on earth, but You. My body and my heart may grow weak, but God is the strength of my heart and all I need forever. For, see, those who are far from You will be lost from You forever. You have destroyed all those who are not faithful to You. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Lord God my safe place. So I may tell of all the things You have done.”
We usually think whether "we have 2 or 3 or more lifeguards we'll be more safer".
Some of us have a lot of friends to not feeling alone if someone of them leave us, other people study a lot of things in order to feeling indestructible, or if we are adults and we got a children, try us to find out the way how is possible to be more social in order to be prepare when our children grow up and leave us, etc.
But, what happens if suddenly all we considered firm and secure it collapses down before our eyes?
What would we think? "Oh! We made a mistake in our plans" "I should not have put my confiance in that!" Oh really? So, ¿Would we should put our confiance where?
Before answering, we should to know all is temporary ... "We do not look at the things that can be seen. We look at the things that cannot be seen. The things that can be seen will come to an end. But the things that cannot be seen will last forever." (2 Corinthians 4:18).
That's why David knew there was not a "lifeguard" as safer as God. He understood that the one way was he put his trust in God. We all know David was persecuted and without cause Saul wanted to kill him (1 Samuel 19)... But David instead thinking: "Why did I have to kill that giant? I was better off taking care of my Father's sheep!" (1 Samuel 17:34), or "Saul! I can defeat you because I have an army now!" (1 Samuel 22:2)... Just understanding God is the Rock of our Salvation, in God our life is secure, God is our absolute companion, God never leaves us alone, then it's possible understand that if He permits something, we can not be afraid because Lord sustains us! David knew that! (Psalm 23)
It's possible you're going through this moment where you feel that all the lifeguards you had are gone, where you feel your life has become chaos, where you ask yourself over and over "What will I do, what will become of me now?" ... I want to tell you that God is real and He has not forsaken you, that God is with you, that God is in control, that God takes comfort from you in these difficult times. Today is a day to look for no lifeguards outside of God ... It is time to let God carry you, to trust in Him and declare: "But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Lord God my safe place. So I may tell of all the things You have done."(Psalm 73:28)
'Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will give you strength, and for sure I will help you. Yes, I will hold you up with My right hand that is right and good.' (Isaiah 41:10)
